The 2009 Sharing A Vision Early Childhood Conference will be held October 7-9, 2009 at the Westin Yorktown Center in Lombard, Illinois. The conference will again include Showcasing, which provides an opportunity for colleagues and friends to hear and see what is being done for young children and their families in Illinois.

Conference attendees will have an opportunity to visit the Showcasing area to learn about new techniques, successful ideas for family involvement and innovative strategies and practices being used with young children. Showcasing sessions are scheduled for Thursday, October 8th in the morning and early afternoon, and Friday, October 9th in the morning. This event is a wonderful opportunity for networking and exchanging ideas!

We are inviting you to submit the included Showcasing application form for consideration. There will be one free conference registration per approved Showcasing project. Please do not be shy! Share your ideas. We ask that you carefully review the attached guidelines for Showcasing to insure you have a full understanding of your participation in this event.

A diverse representation of practices will be chosen to Showcase. If your application is selected, you will display and discuss your ideas or practices during one of the scheduled blocks that you have selected on your application form. Attendees will have an opportunity to view Showcasing displays, hear ideas, and talk with the presenter(s) in an interactive format which does not involve a formal presentation or workshop. A draped, 6 foot table will be available for your display and materials. It is the responsibility of the exhibitor to provide his or her own equipment.

In order to apply for Showcasing, complete the enclosed application form. Along with the application, submit a one-page typed description of your idea, a concise (50-75) word description of the content of your project and mail or fax these items to the address listed below by May 10, 2009. You will be notified the week of June 10, 2009 if your application is accepted.

Showcasing Guidelines

Showcasing is an opportunity for participants to present unique features about their programs, innovative ideas or techniques, or share the results of research and evaluation efforts.

Guidelines

Complete the application form.
Submit a one-page typed description of your Showcasing proposal. Include those details that you feel are necessary to explain your submission.
Submit a brief (between 50-75 words) summary describing the content of your proposal, which will be included in the program booklet.
Successful Showcasing participants should include at least one and hopefully more than one of the following as a part of their display: videotape or slide presentation to support the practice or concept presented, display boards, samples of children’s works, or hands on opportunities for participants to interact with materials.
The Showcasing application deadline is May 10, 2009.
Acceptance letters will be mailed to applicants the week of June 10, 2009.

Additional Information

The space for each showcasing session will include a 6 foot table, one chair, and an electrical outlet.
Each Showcasing session will be awarded one free registration. Each Showcasing presenter must register for the conference as a participant.
